Sen. Cynthia Lummis of Wyoming, widely known in Washington and the digital asset industry as the “Bitcoin Senator,” has announced she will not seek reelection when her term ends in early 2027, leaving a highly influential crypto ally Congress seat open at a critical moment for U.S. technology and financial regulation.

Hageman offered strong praise for Lummis’ tenure, underscoring the outgoing senator’s impact.
“Senator Lummis has been a trailblazer for Wyoming and has been key in educating other members of Congress, including other Republicans, about what life is like in our Western states,” she said.
She added, “There can be no question that the people of Wyoming are better off for having had Cynthia Lummis on their side.”
Whether Hageman or another Republican ultimately wins the seat, crypto investors and policymakers alike will be watching closely to see if the next senator maintains the state’s reputation as home to a crypto ally Congress seat.
