Grayscale’s spot Chainlink ETF is expected to debut December 2, making it the first exchange-traded fund offering direct exposure to the LINK token for U.S. investors, according to Bloomberg Intelligence analysts tracking regulatory filings.
James Seyffart, a Bloomberg ETF analyst who has tracked the filing process, said the schedule aligns with regulator-facing documents already visible in institutional listing systems.
“All signs point to early December for this launch,” — James Seyffart, Bloomberg Intelligence. For crypto investors, the timing reflects both increased regulatory comfort and a growing appetite for alternative asset ETFs beyond Bitcoin.
The conversion process follows Grayscale’s established pattern for bringing crypto trusts to public markets, similar to the firm’s earlier transitions of Bitcoin and Ethereum products. The Spot chainlink etf will track the spot price of LINK and incorporate staking-related returns in jurisdictions where regulatory approval allows it.
ETF analysts predict flood of new altcoin funds
Senior ETF strategist Eric Balchunas has warned that the approval pipeline is quickly filling. He noted using proprietary listing data seen internally at Bloomberg Intelligence Research that more than 100 digital-asset ETFs could enter the U.S. market over the next six months.
Balchunas added that at least five spot crypto funds are slated to launch within days of the Spot chainlink etf, creating strong early competition across the altcoin ETF space.
“This is only the beginning,” — Eric Balchunas, Senior ETF Analyst, Bloomberg Intelligence, stating that rapid product expansion reflects a dramatic shift from Washington’s previous resistance to crypto-based investment vehicles.
Regulatory momentum has strengthened significantly since mid-2024, with ongoing developments at the SEC documented in public disclosures available through the SEC ETF Filings Database.
This changing environment has encouraged issuers to broaden their ETF pipelines to include emerging tokens with strong developer ecosystems and institutional interest.
Competing issuers accelerate plans for their own Chainlink funds
Grayscale’s move to launch the Spot chainlink etf comes as competition intensifies. Rival asset manager Bitwise is developing its own LINK-based ETF, setting up a competitive race for both institutional and retail inflows tied to Chainlink’s expanding role in global blockchain infrastructure.
Grayscale has described Chainlink as “a foundational data bridge for real-world transaction systems,” emphasizing its use in pricing feeds, settlement triggers and cross-chain communication.
This institutional narrative supports investor interest in the Spot chainlink etf, which will provide regulated exposure to an asset widely used across decentralized finance and enterprise blockchain deployments.
The conversion process itself mirrors the firm’s approach with earlier trust products launched during 2020, but the timing places Grayscale in direct competition with multiple issuers simultaneously preparing altcoin ETFs for early 2025.
Altcoin ETF demand surges as Bitcoin funds face stagnation
The launch of the Spot chainlink etf coincides with a broader shift in investor interest toward altcoin-linked ETFs. Over the past month, U.S. markets have seen new ETFs tied to Solana, XRP and Dogecoin, with more XRP and Dogecoin products scheduled to list next week.
Many of these filings were cleared to begin trading following certifications submitted to the SEC and approved for listing by the New York Stock Exchange and its ETF-focused subsidiary, NYSE Arca.
The NYSE approvals are documented in official certifications filed under the Securities Exchange Act of 1934, available through NYSE Arca Listing Certifications.
Notably, the Canary Capital XRP ETF (XRPC) debuted with $58 million in opening inflows, narrowly surpassing the Bitwise Solana Staking ETF (BSOL), which launched with $57 million.
BSOL has since amassed more than $660 million in assets within three weeks and has not recorded a single day of outflows which is a performance that underscores investor appetite for exposure beyond Bitcoin.
Bitwise has also announced the Bitwise Dogecoin ETF, reflecting similar demand trends among retail and institutional investors.
As these products gain momentum, analysts expect the Spot chainlink etf to benefit from a broader shift toward altcoin diversification. Chainlink’s deep integration across decentralized finance and enterprise applications positions it as one of the more technically mature non-Bitcoin assets in the market.
A new phase for crypto ETFs as regulatory barriers ease
With shifting political sentiment in Washington, expanded issuer participation and growing investor interest in diversified exposure, the Spot chainlink etf represents a new stage in the evolution of regulated crypto investment products.
Analysts argue that the surge in altcoin ETFs signals a fundamental change: rising acceptance of non-Bitcoin digital assets and growing institutional willingness to integrate them into traditional portfolios.
As listing deadlines approach, Grayscale and Bitwise appear poised to compete directly for the largest share of Chainlink-related flows. For crypto investors, the emergence of the Spot chainlink etf provides a regulated gateway to one of the market’s most established smart-contract infrastructure assets and a glimpse into the next era of crypto-linked financial products.
