Small businesses across the Las Vegas Valley are increasingly accepting Bitcoin for everyday purchases, driven by Square’s decision to waive processing fees through 2026 and rising customer demand for cryptocurrency payment options.

From independent juice bars to medical practices, merchants say the shift toward digital currency payments is becoming a competitive advantage as customers actively seek out Bitcoin-friendly establishments.

Small businesses drive Bitcoin payment acceptance

Independent businesses are playing a leading role in expanding Bitcoin payment acceptance across Las Vegas. At Cane Juice Bar and Cafe on Rainbow Boulevard near Windmill, customers can pay for freshly pressed sugar cane juice using Bitcoin, cash, or traditional card payments.

District manager Tyler Peterson said the business adopted Bitcoin payment acceptance roughly eight months ago as part of a broader effort to modernize operations and meet changing customer preferences.

“It’s been about 8 months now that we’ve had Bitcoin implemented as a payment,” — Tyler Peterson, District Manager, Cane Juice Bar and Cafe.

Peterson noted that Bitcoin payment acceptance is no longer limited to tech enthusiasts or cryptocurrency investors. Instead, he said, everyday customers increasingly expect digital payment options that go beyond credit cards.

“Bitcoin is getting very popular with mainstream people, not just the people that are actually into things like cryptocurrencies… it’s just something to help us move forward,” — Tyler Peterson, District Manager, Cane Juice Bar and Cafe.

According to Peterson, Bitcoin payment acceptance has also become a marketing advantage. Some customers now discover the juice bar specifically because it appears on online maps listing businesses that accept Bitcoin.

“Absolutely, yeah. I get calls all the time. People come in, they inquire and they ask me if we’re accepting Bitcoin,” — Tyler Peterson, District Manager, Cane Juice Bar and Cafe.

How Bitcoin payment acceptance works at checkout

As Bitcoin payment acceptance expands, consultants say the process is becoming increasingly simple for both businesses and customers. Jeremy Querci, a Bitcoin consultant with Sovreign, said merchants across the valley — including medical practices, juice bars, and children’s play spaces — are now offering Bitcoin payment acceptance.

Querci explained that paying with Bitcoin typically requires only a smartphone and a compatible app, making it comparable to other digital wallets.

“At the time of checkout, you say you want to pay in Bitcoin and the business can bring up a QR code that you scan with your phone with any Bitcoin app,” — Jeremy Querci, Bitcoin Consultant, Sovreign.

Supporters of Bitcoin payment acceptance argue that the ease of use will continue to improve as software tools mature and consumer familiarity grows. For merchants, the simplicity reduces friction at the point of sale, while customers benefit from faster, contactless transactions.

Peterson echoed that sentiment, describing Bitcoin payment acceptance as part of a long-term shift in how people interact with money.

“It’s one of those things where it’s going to get easier and easier to use. It’s the future,” — Tyler Peterson, District Manager, Cane Juice Bar and Cafe.

Lower fees accelerate Bitcoin payment acceptance

Beyond customer interest, cost savings are a major factor driving Bitcoin payment acceptance. In November, Square enabled approximately four million merchants across the United States to accept Bitcoin payments with zero processing fees through 2026. That move significantly reduced barriers for businesses considering cryptocurrency payments.

Traditional credit card processing fees typically range from 2.5 to 3.5 percent per transaction. By contrast, Bitcoin payment acceptance allows some merchants to bypass those charges, potentially improving margins, especially for small businesses operating on thin profits.

Customers looking to use Bitcoin payment acceptance can locate participating merchants through Bitcoin maps or financial apps such as Cash App, further increasing visibility for businesses that adopt the option.

As Bitcoin payment acceptance continues to spread across Las Vegas, industry observers say the trend reflects a broader normalization of cryptocurrency in everyday commerce. While adoption rates vary by sector, the growing presence of Bitcoin payment acceptance suggests digital currencies are steadily moving from novelty to practical utility.
