Nearly nine in ten high-net-worth individuals across Asia plan to increase their cryptocurrency holdings, with half targeting allocations exceeding 10% of their portfolios, according to a new survey of more than 270 wealthy investors in the region.
The shift reflects growing confidence in digital assets as tools for wealth preservation and legacy planning rather than speculation, with 90% of respondents viewing crypto as essential to long-term financial strategies, Sygnum Bank‘s 2025 Asia-Pacific survey found.
The Sygnum APAC HNWI Report 2025 emphasizes that wealthy individuals in APAC are approaching crypto with greater sophistication.
Out of over 270 surveyed HNWIs, UHNWIs, and professional investors, 90% view cryptocurrencies as essential for legacy planning and wealth preservation, not just speculative gains.
Median crypto holdings range between 10% and 20% of portfolios, with diversification driving 56% of investment decisions.

The Sygnum APAC HNWI Report clearly shows that crypto is no longer a niche asset for Asia’s elite—it is integral to long-term wealth planning, said Gerald Goh, Co-founder of Sygnum and CEO of APAC.
The question is no longer if private banks can serve this market, but when.
APAC Wealth Managers Eye Active Crypto Exposure
The report highlights a growing interest in actively managed exposure, yield strategies, and outsourced mandates.
Over 80% of respondents expressed a desire for ETFs beyond Bitcoin and Ethereum, reflecting a push toward institutional-grade crypto products.
Additionally, 52% see Solana as the next high-demand digital asset, while 70% would increase allocations if staking yields were included.
Goh added, Approximately 66% of Asia’s wealthy say they would invest more confidently if their private banks or wealth managers offered high-security custody solutions.
Regulatory frameworks in Hong Kong and Singapore are now providing the infrastructure to meet this demand.”
Diversification and Institutional-Grade Products Drive Adoption
According to the Sygnum APAC HNWI Report, nearly 48% of respondents are interested in multi-asset index products, and about 41% are exploring XRP.
These preferences highlight APAC investors’ inclination toward regulated, yield-bearing vehicles that integrate seamlessly with traditional financial systems.
Lucas Schweiger, Sygnum’s crypto asset ecosystem research lead and report author, said, HNWIs in APAC are increasingly treating crypto as a legitimate avenue for wealth creation and preservation.
Their disciplined, integrational approach is driving substantial allocations, while Singapore’s MAS framework provides the institutional-grade safeguards they expect.
Regulatory Clarity and Cautious Timing
Despite enthusiasm, the report also notes cautious behavior due to market corrections and regulatory uncertainty.
Differing licensing frameworks across the region and concerns around security and custody remain the main barriers to larger allocations.
Nevertheless, the Sygnum APAC HNWI Report indicates that portfolio diversification, institutional-grade product demand, and international wealth planning continue to accelerate crypto adoption in the region.
“APAC is rapidly becoming one of the world’s fastest-growing and most important digital asset gateways”, Goh said. We expect this momentum to strengthen further into 2026.
The Sygnum APAC HNWI Report is a clear signal that cryptocurrencies are now a core component of wealth strategies for Asia’s affluent, with long-term outlooks, and sophisticated product demand.
