Grass users report $0.66 payouts after two years of bandwidth mining
Thousands of Grass users are accusing the project of unfair reward allocations after the launch of its Stage 2 rewards checker revealed payouts as low as a few cents for some long-term contributors.
Grass’s Stage 2 rewards checker went live on July 1, and within hours contributors were posting screenshots of allocations as low as $0.01 despite up to two years of bandwidth-sharing. Claims open July 22 through the official Grass Dashboard, with unclaimed funds forfeited after January 22, 2027.
Grass stage 2 rewards checker ignites community outrage
According to the Grass Foundation, Grass Stage 2 rewards are being distributed in USDC rather than GRASS tokens. The project said the decision was made “in the interest of navigating ongoing regulatory uncertainty” and to ensure eligible users across supported jurisdictions can receive rewards more efficiently.
Participants can check their allocations by logging into the official dashboard, while claims will remain open until January 22, 2027. The Foundation also noted that rewards are delivered to a self-custodial in-app wallet, with a small blockchain fee deducted to cover on-chain distribution costs.
However, shortly after the Grass Stage 2 rewards checker went live, social media platforms particularly X were flooded with screenshots showing estimated allocations ranging from just $0.01 to a few dollars despite hundreds of days of activity, millions of uptime points, multiple devices, and extensive referral networks.
One user, @juehan0720, wrote:
“I can’t even believe my eyes.. two years network contribution and get only $0.66, are you serious Grass Team???”
Another contributor, @ilhamrasadi, questioned the fairness of the allocation process:
“This is crazy!!!! I had it running on my PC, Laptop, Pad, and Phone for a year, but only got this much? Are you joking with the community?”
Meanwhile, user @Vip_uzair posted:
“Years of mining referrals, uptime, and loyalty were rewarded with frustration instead of fairness. The community believed in the project, supported its growth, and expected transparency. Trust takes years to build and only moments to lose.”
The reactions were accompanied by numerous screenshots showing rewards below $1, while a smaller number of users displayed significantly larger allocations running into hundreds of USDC.
Questions emerge over Grass Stage 2 rewards calculation
Much of the criticism centers on how Grass Stage 2 rewards were calculated.
Grass previously introduced a revised points model beginning with Epoch 11, separating contributions into Network Points and Uptime Points.

According to the project’s documentation, Network Points reflect periods when a participant’s bandwidth is actively used, while Uptime Points measure how long a device remains available to the network and also include referral-related bonuses.
The official Rewards Program Terms further state that distributions are determined by several variables, including:
The amount of time bandwidth is made available.
The quality of the user’s connection.
Geographic location.
The amount of bandwidth actually used by the network.
Grass also notes that it reserves discretion in determining participant eligibility and final reward allocations.
Despite those published criteria, many contributors argue the final allocations appear inconsistent with the effort they invested. Several Reddit discussions published after the checker launched echo similar complaints, with users claiming millions of uptime points translated into rewards worth only a few dollars while asking the project to explain its methodology more transparently.
Grass defends official process as claims approach
In its announcement, the Grass Foundation urged users to access the Grass Stage 2 rewards checker only through the official dashboard and warned against phishing attempts.
The Foundation stated:
“Grass will never DM you first, never ask for your seed phrase or private keys, and never run a check or claim through any other site.” — Grass Foundation
The project also reminded participants that claims will become available on July 22 at 1:00 PM EST, after which users can confirm their allocation and receive funds in their self-custodial wallet. Unclaimed rewards after January 22, 2027 will be retained by Grass under the published program terms.
For now, the controversy surrounding Grass Stage 2 rewards continues to dominate community discussions. While some participants received substantial allocations, many long-term contributors remain dissatisfied, arguing that the rewards do not adequately reflect the time, bandwidth, electricity costs, and device usage they committed to the network over nearly two years.
Whether Grass provides additional clarification on its allocation methodology may determine whether community confidence can be restored before claims officially begin later this month.
