DMCC and EAK Digital will launch BlockDown Dubai, the blockchain conference series’ first UAE edition, at Uptown Dubai on January 26–27, 2027. The partnership was announced June 29 and organizers expect 2,000 to 3,000 attendees.
BlockDown Dubai strengthens Dubai’s Web3 leadership
The arrival of BlockDown Dubai marks the first time the globally recognized event series will be hosted in the UAE. Organized by Dubai-based Web3 marketing agency EAK Digital in partnership with DMCC, the conference will be staged at The Plaza, Uptown Dubai, an open-air venue within DMCC’s flagship mixed-use district.
The expansion follows the success of Istanbul Blockchain Week, which EAK Digital has developed into Türkiye’s largest Web3 conference over the past six years.
Since its launch, the BlockDown series has hosted seven international editions across destinations including Portugal and Croatia. Previous events have welcomed leading figures from the blockchain industry, including Changpeng Zhao, Sergey Nazarov, Anatoly Yakovenko and Charles Hoskinson, while attracting participation from brands such as McLaren Racing, Paris Saint-Germain FC and BLVCK Paris.
The organizers say BlockDown Dubai will focus on the convergence of blockchain infrastructure, tokenization, artificial intelligence, Web3 gaming, decentralized technologies and digital finance, reflecting the technologies increasingly shaping the global economy.
DMCC and EAK Digital outline vision for BlockDown Dubai
Speaking on the partnership, Ahmed Bin Sulayem, Executive Chairman and CEO of DMCC, said Dubai has positioned itself at the center of technological innovation by creating one of the Middle East’s largest Web3 business ecosystems.
“Digital assets, artificial intelligence, and blockchain infrastructure are moving from the margins into the core of the global economy. The next phase of growth will be defined by how effectively these technologies converge with capital, regulation, and international trade. DMCC has built the region’s leading technology community, home to one of the largest concentrations of web3 companies in the Middle East. Through our partnership with EAK Digital to host BlockDown Dubai at Uptown Dubai, we are creating a premier platform that connects founders, investors, and institutions at the center of this transformation.” — Ahmed Bin Sulayem, Executive Chairman and CEO, DMCC
According to DMCC, its technology ecosystem now includes more than 800 Web3 companies operating within a broader community of over 4,000 technology firms, alongside more than 26,000 businesses across trade, finance and professional services.
For EAK Digital, the expansion represents another milestone in the company’s global events strategy.
Erhan Korhaliller, Founder and CEO of EAK Digital, said the company’s experience building Istanbul Blockchain Week helped shape the vision behind the new conference.
“We have spent six years building Istanbul Blockchain Week into the largest Web3 conference in Türkiye, and what that journey taught us is that the industry was missing an event that treated experience and business outcomes as equals, not a tradeoff. BlockDown was built on that conviction, merging web3, AI, gaming and culture into a single experience, where the atmosphere is world-class and the business outcomes are just as sharp. Dubai is where that vision belongs. The city sits at the intersection of capital, technology and global ambition, and partnering with DMCC gives us the platform to build what we intend to be the defining web3 event brand in the region. January 2027 is just the beginning.” — Erhan Korhaliller, Founder and CEO, EAK Digital
BlockDown Dubai reflects the city’s expanding blockchain ecosystem
The launch of BlockDown Dubai comes as Dubai continues attracting blockchain startups, digital asset companies, AI firms and venture capital investors seeking access to international markets, supportive regulation and global funding opportunities.
Hosted within Uptown Dubai, the conference aims to create a platform where entrepreneurs, institutional investors, developers and policymakers can exchange ideas on the future of blockchain and emerging technologies.
Organizers say attendees will include representatives from blockchain protocols, digital asset companies, venture capital firms, technology enterprises and international brands, with discussions centered on tokenization, decentralized finance, artificial intelligence, gaming and digital infrastructure.
The partnership also reinforces DMCC’s strategy of positioning Uptown Dubai as a destination for international business, finance and innovation by combining premium office space, hospitality and event infrastructure within a single district.
Why BlockDown Dubai matters for the global Web3 industry
The launch of BlockDown Dubai highlights the UAE’s continued efforts to strengthen its position as one of the world’s leading destinations for blockchain innovation.
As governments and private companies increasingly explore digital assets, AI and decentralized technologies, conferences such as BlockDown Dubai are becoming key meeting points for collaboration, investment and policy discussions.
With an expected attendance of up to 3,000 participants, the inaugural edition is expected to bring together a broad cross-section of the global blockchain industry while further cementing Dubai’s reputation as a gateway connecting Europe, Asia, Africa and the Middle East.
The event is scheduled for January 26–27, 2027, with organizers describing it as the beginning of a long-term partnership aimed at establishing BlockDown Dubai as one of the region’s flagship Web3 conferences.
