OKX opens US waitlist for stablecoin Mastercard with up to 10% cashback

OKX is preparing to introduce its card to the US market, a move that could strengthen its customer acquisition strategy as competition intensifies around everyday cryptocurrency payments.

OKX has opened a US waitlist for the OKX Card, a Mastercard that lets eligible customers spend stablecoins and earn 2% to 10% cashback in USDG, the exchange said in an October 23, 2026 announcement. OKX has not set a launch date. Its US product page names WebBank as the card issuer.

Cashback rewards and fees could shape customer demand

One of the most prominent features advertised for the OKX Card is a tiered cashback programme. The US product page lists rewards starting at 2% and reaching as high as 10%, depending on a customer’s qualifying tier. Cashback is paid in USDG, a dollar-denominated stablecoin, rather than being presented as unrestricted cash rewards.

The programme has five tiers: Classic, Plus, Premium, Signature, and Infinite. Customers can qualify for different levels based on their OKX VIP status, average OKX Pay balance over 30 days, or eligible card spending during the previous 30 days.

The advertised rewards come with important conditions. Cashback applies only to eligible USDG purchases settled through automatic repayment. Purchases involving USDC or USDT, as well as transactions settled through manual fiat repayment, do not qualify under the published terms. Monthly spending limits and cashback caps also apply.

OKX also advertises zero transaction fees and zero foreign-exchange fees for the US offering. Its website says eligible balances held in OKX Pay can earn yield between purchases, with advertised annual percentage yields varying by tier. These rates and rewards remain subject to the programme’s conditions and applicable limits.

These incentives could make the OKX Card attractive to users who already maintain substantial balances on the platform. However, the headline cashback percentage alone does not determine the value of the product. Customers will need to assess qualifying spending categories, repayment requirements, monthly caps, and the risks associated with keeping funds on a cryptocurrency platform.

US competition and regulatory requirements remain key challenges

The American market presents both an opportunity and a challenge for OKX. Payment cards linked to digital assets compete not only with products from other cryptocurrency companies but also with conventional debit cards and credit cards offering cashback, travel benefits, or other consumer incentives.

The OKX Card could differentiate itself by combining stablecoin spending with the exchange’s existing account services. Integrating payments into a platform customers already use may encourage them to remain active within its ecosystem.

Nevertheless, the introduction of a card does not automatically translate into higher trading volumes or stronger customer retention. Users may adopt the product primarily for payments without increasing their trading activity. Others may prefer traditional financial services because they are more familiar with their protections, rewards structures, and dispute-resolution processes.

Regulatory compliance will also be central to the rollout. The product page identifies WebBank as the issuer, while eligibility and availability remain subject to the programme’s terms and applicable restrictions. Prospective customers should confirm whether their state and account meet the requirements before relying on the service.

For OKX, the launch will test whether a stablecoin-based payment product can compete in a market where consumers have numerous established payment options. Operational reliability, clear fees, customer support, and confidence in the platform will all influence adoption.

What users and traders should watch next

The immediate priority is the official rollout timeline. OKX’s US website describes the OKX Card as coming soon and provides a waitlist option, but a confirmed public launch date has not been disclosed in the available announcement.

Potential customers should monitor announcements covering supported states, eligibility requirements, card activation, repayment settings, and the final terms governing cashback and yield. Those details will determine whether the product suits their spending habits and financial needs.
