Hardware wallet maker CoolWallet has added ChangeNOW as the default in-app swap provider for its mobile app, the companies announced July 30, letting users exchange crypto without leaving cold storage or exporting private keys.

The partnership is designed to improve the user experience by allowing cryptocurrency holders to exchange digital assets directly within the CoolWallet application while keeping their private keys securely stored offline.

The CoolWallet ChangeNOW integration also signals the first phase of a wider strategic collaboration between the two companies, with additional products already in development.

As self-custody becomes increasingly popular, users are demanding more than secure cold storage. They also want frictionless trading without relying on browser extensions, third-party applications, or moving assets away from secure hardware wallets.

The CoolWallet ChangeNOW integration addresses that demand by combining hardware-level security with fast, non-custodial cryptocurrency swaps.

CoolWallet ChangeNOW integration brings seamless in-app swaps

Founded in 2014, CoolWallet has built a reputation in the hardware wallet industry with more than 300,000 users and, according to the company, no reported hacking incidents since launch.

Its product lineup—including the CoolWallet Pro and the NFC-enabled CoolWallet Go—pairs a credit-card-sized hardware wallet with the CoolWallet mobile application. The system enables users to manage both cold and hot wallets while ensuring that private keys remain inside the wallet’s secure chip and never leave the device.

The CoolWallet ChangeNOW integration extends these capabilities by embedding ChangeNOW’s Exchange API directly into the application. During the first month after launch, ChangeNOW will serve as the default provider for all in-app swaps.

Rather than selecting a separate exchange provider, users simply choose the cryptocurrencies they wish to swap and confirm the transaction. The application automatically routes the exchange through ChangeNOW, eliminating additional setup steps.

The service operates on a non-custodial basis, requires no account registration, and aggregates liquidity from centralized and decentralized exchanges across more than 1,500 digital assets and 90 blockchain networks, enabling broad market coverage through a single interface.

CoolWallet ChangeNOW integration prioritizes security and execution

The companies said integrating a swap service into a hardware wallet required maintaining the same security standards that protect users’ private keys.

Because hardware wallets are specifically designed to isolate sensitive cryptographic information from internet-connected devices, any integrated exchange service must preserve that security model while simplifying access to digital asset trading.

According to the announcement:

“Hardware wallets were once primarily designed to keep private keys offline and secure. Now, expectations have changed.”

The statement reflects the industry’s shift toward combining strong security with everyday usability.

The announcement further explained that the CoolWallet ChangeNOW integration allows users to exchange cryptocurrencies without exporting private keys, opening external applications, or navigating browser tabs.

On transaction execution, the companies said routing technology focuses on delivering the best available output rather than simply displaying headline exchange rates.

The announcement states:

“Swaps settle fast and hold their rate even when liquidity shifts, since routing targets the best final output rather than the flashiest headline number.”

That approach is intended to improve execution quality, particularly during periods of changing market liquidity.

CoolWallet ChangeNOW integration expands with Token2049 partnership

The CoolWallet ChangeNOW integration is also laying the foundation for additional collaboration between the two companies.

CoolWallet and ChangeNOW announced plans to release a limited-edition hardware wallet for Token2049 Singapore, scheduled to take place at Marina Bay Sands on October 7–8, 2026.

The special-edition device will feature a custom design and will include ChangeNOW as its exclusive in-app swap provider. Further details regarding pricing and availability are expected closer to the event.

Conference attendees will also be able to participate in an interactive activity at the ChangeNOW exhibition booth.

The collaboration demonstrates how hardware wallet manufacturers are increasingly partnering with infrastructure providers to expand secure services within self-custody ecosystems.

Partnership reflects growing demand for integrated self-custody solutions

The CoolWallet ChangeNOW integration comes as the cryptocurrency industry continues shifting toward products that combine robust security with simplified user experiences.

ChangeNOW For Business provides enterprise-focused tools that allow companies to accept crypto payments, exchange digital assets and integrate Web3 financial services into their operations. According to the company, its infrastructure supports tens of millions of successful transactions every month while following SOC 2 and ISO 27001 best practices.

For CoolWallet users, the CoolWallet ChangeNOW integration means swapping digital assets no longer requires leaving the wallet ecosystem or trusting multiple external services. Instead, the experience combines self-custody, broad asset support and automated liquidity routing within a single application.

As demand for secure yet convenient cryptocurrency management continues to grow, the CoolWallet ChangeNOW integration highlights a broader trend among wallet providers to deliver more functionality without compromising the core principle of self-custody: keeping users in control of their private keys.
