Kalshi has become the US Open’s exclusive prediction-market partner as the 2026 tournament’s main draw got underway in New York, with the deal, reported by Front Office Sports, citing two people familiar with it, also barring rival platforms from advertising at the venue or on ESPN’s broadcast.

Kalshi US Open partnership takes effect immediately

The Kalshi US Open partnership was finalized after the tournament’s qualifying rounds, rather than being arranged well in advance of the competition.

Front Office Sports reported on Aug. 30, citing two people familiar with the agreement, that Kalshi became the US Open’s exclusive prediction market partner with immediate effect. The exact commercial value and full parameters of the arrangement remain undisclosed.

The agreement was reached despite earlier expectations that the USTA might wait until a future tournament before entering the prediction market category.

Recent discussions had reportedly involved several platforms and included concerns surrounding match integrity, with some conversations initially focused on potential agreements beginning in later years.

That timetable changed following Craig Tiley’s arrival as USTA CEO. According to the report, Tiley played an important role in helping bring a deal together for the 2026 tournament.

A source familiar with the deal told Front Office Sports that rival prediction market companies would be prevented from advertising at the tournament venue or during its television coverage.

“An ‘unusual’ aspect of the agreement is that the USTA is blocking any other prediction-market platforms from advertising in the facility or on TV, including across ESPN.”

A source familiar with the agreement, as reported by Front Office Sports.

Why the Kalshi US Open partnership matters for investors

The Kalshi US Open partnership adds another major sports property to the company’s growing portfolio of commercial relationships.

For investors following the intersection of crypto, financial technology and event-based markets, the development highlights the rapid commercialization of a sector that has historically operated outside the mainstream sponsorship structures associated with major sports.

Kalshi already lists contracts connected to individual US Open matches. According to crypto.news, some tennis-related contracts had generated more than $1 million in trading volume as the tournament began.

The platform’s markets allow users to take positions on the outcome of real-world events, with prices reflecting changing expectations about those outcomes.

The company’s broader sports strategy has also accelerated. Kalshi has announced relationships with several major U.S. sports teams, including the Atlanta Braves, Boston Red Sox, Los Angeles Dodgers, San Diego Padres and San Francisco Giants.

The prediction market sector more broadly has seen competing platforms pursue similar opportunities, with Kalshi and Polymarket establishing partnerships in professional sports.

Prediction markets are increasingly being positioned as a distinct form of market-based information, where trading activity produces real-time probability signals around future events.

Kalshi has previously expanded its institutional footprint through partnerships involving prediction-market data, including collaborations aimed at bringing market-generated probabilities into investment research.

The US Open agreement, however, places the company in front of a substantially broader consumer audience.

“Prediction markets are rapidly emerging as a new tool of financial research,”Kalshi said in announcing an earlier collaboration with ARK Invest.

The Kalshi US Open partnership therefore illustrates two sides of the company’s strategy: expanding event contracts as a financial information tool while simultaneously building consumer recognition through high-profile sports partnerships.

Sports contracts are becoming central to Kalshi’s growth

Sports have become an increasingly important part of Kalshi’s business as the company broadens its offerings beyond politics, economics and other event categories that helped establish the prediction market model.

According to crypto.news, sports-related contracts became Kalshi’s largest product category during a period of heavy activity surrounding the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Weekly trading volume reached a reported record of $5.1 billion in June as tournament-related activity increased.

The Kalshi US Open partnership could strengthen that strategy by associating the platform directly with a major global tennis tournament rather than simply offering contracts on its matches. However, greater involvement in sports also creates additional pressure around integrity and compliance.

The company has developed surveillance and restricted-participant systems intended to limit trading by people who may have access to sensitive information about sporting events, according to crypto.news.

Those efforts include technology designed to identify potentially suspicious activity and restrictions covering certain athletes, coaches, officials and other insiders.

Integrity concerns are particularly relevant to tennis and other sports where information about injuries, lineup decisions or other developments could affect the outcome of event contracts.

The ATP Tour has also weighed in on the wider regulatory discussion, supporting stronger rules around sports event contracts and recommending restrictions involving markets tied to player injuries and officiating decisions, according to Front Office Sports.

For market participants, this makes compliance infrastructure an important part of the long-term investment case surrounding prediction market operators.

Commercial growth may increase trading activity, but the industry’s ability to expand sustainably could depend on whether platforms can address concerns over insider information and market integrity.

Kalshi US Open partnership arrives amid regulatory uncertainty

The Kalshi US Open partnership comes as the company continues to face legal disputes over the treatment of its sports event contracts in the United States.

Just days before news of the US Open agreement emerged, the Ninth U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals ruled that Kalshi had not demonstrated that federal commodities law was likely to override Nevada’s gaming regulations in relation to its sports contracts.

The decision followed a dispute with Nevada gaming regulators, who argued that the company’s activities fell under state gambling laws.

Kalshi has maintained that its event contracts operate under federal oversight and should be treated differently from traditional sports betting.

The legal debate has become increasingly important as prediction markets gain commercial traction and states seek to define the limits of their authority over the industry.

The regulatory conflict presents a significant consideration for investors. On one hand, major partnerships and rising volumes suggest increasing adoption and commercial confidence.

On the other, differing court decisions and state-level challenges could affect where and how prediction market platforms operate.

Yet the company’s future expansion will likely be shaped by both consumer demand and the outcome of the legal battle over how event contracts should be regulated.

The Kalshi US Open partnership is therefore more than a sponsorship development. It marks another step in the convergence of sports, financial markets and prediction-based trading, while underscoring the regulatory questions that remain unresolved.

Kalshi’s ability to turn high-profile partnerships into sustained trading growth without losing ground in courtrooms and regulatory disputes—may be one of the sector’s most important stories to follow.
