MEXC launched a Visa-linked crypto card on Aug. 31, 2026, letting eligible users spend USDT with cashback of up to 10% and zero fees through Sept. 30. The virtual Global Card, which supports Apple Pay and Google Pay, positions MEXC among a fast-growing group of exchanges linking stablecoin holdings to everyday payments.

MEXC Visa crypto card offers USDT spending and cashback

The new Visa crypto card enables users to spend USDT through the Visa network without requiring a physical card. Eligible customers can also connect the card to Apple Pay and Google Pay for mobile transactions.

MEXC is waiving purchase fees from the card’s launch through Sept. 30. The exchange said it charges no issuance, annual or top-up fees, although purchase fees will begin at 1% after the promotional period ends.

Transactions are processed using Visa’s exchange rates, while MEXC said it does not apply an additional exchange-rate markup. However, foreign exchange charges may still apply to certain currencies under Visa’s rules.

The Visa crypto card also features a tiered USDT cashback system linked to users’ VVIP status and M-Score. MEXC calculates the score based on activities including trading, Earn subscriptions and participation in platform tasks.

Standard users can receive 4% cashback, capped at 100 USDT per month. Premier users are eligible for 6%, with a monthly cap of 300 USDT. At the Elite level, users can receive up to 10% cashback, with rewards capped at 800 USDT each month.

According to MEXC’s rewards documentation, cashback rates are determined by a user’s VVIP level on the final day of each calendar month. Rewards are then distributed to the user’s spot account on the 15th of the following month.

Refunded or reversed purchases may affect the final reward amount, while some merchant categories are excluded from cashback eligibility.

MEXC expands beyond crypto trading

The Visa crypto card forms part of MEXC’s broader effort to expand its services beyond cryptocurrency trading and investment.

The exchange is also offering cardholders access to a flexible savings product through MEXC Earn. Users who subscribe eligible USDT can receive annualized returns of up to 7%, with funds available for redemption without a lock-up period.

However, the yield applies specifically to USDT subscribed to the Earn product and does not automatically apply to funds held for card purchases. MEXC calculates Earn returns separately from spending cashback.

MEXC CEO Vugar Usi said the company’s objective is to position digital assets as part of a wider financial ecosystem.

“We want users to see digital assets not simply as an investment tool, but as part of a complete financial journey, from saving and yield-generating products to principal-protected solutions and, ultimately, everyday spending,” Vugar Usi, CEO of MEXC.

Usi said the Visa crypto card gives users the ability to retain their assets in digital form until they are needed for payments, creating a closer connection between crypto asset management and real-world spending.

“Users can keep assets in digital form until they need to make a payment,”  Vugar Usi, CEO of MEXC.

The product sits alongside MEXC’s existing APAC card and its co-branded card with ether.fi rather than replacing those services.

Crypto card spending climbs to $759 million

MEXC’s Visa crypto card enters the market as stablecoin-based payment activity records significant growth.

According to an August analysis by a16z crypto using Paymentscan data, monthly crypto payment card volume reached $759 million in July, compared with $306 million a year earlier. Paymentscan had recorded less than $1 million in tracked transaction volume when its monitoring began in October 2023.

Transaction activity has also increased sharply. Nearly 9 million purchases were recorded in July, compared with approximately 5.2 million transactions a year earlier.

The average transaction value stood at roughly $86.

Stablecoins accounted for most of the spending activity tracked by Paymentscan. USDC and USDT together represented 84% of crypto card spending, according to the data cited by a16z.

The growth has encouraged more companies to introduce products connecting digital assets to established payment networks.

Fold began issuing its Bitcoin Credit Card to selected waitlist users in May, offering a 1.5% base Bitcoin reward and rewards of up to 4% through additional offers. The Visa-based product also supports Apple Pay and Google Pay.

Western Union also launched its Stablecard with Rain in August, allowing customers to hold and spend its USDPT stablecoin through Visa. The service initially launched across 37 markets, with the company targeting expansion to more than 60 markets by the end of 2026.

Visa has separately been testing payment models designed to connect stablecoin balances more directly with its merchant network. A pilot with WeFi, announced in May, covered selected markets across Europe, Asia and Latin America.

The expanding market provides the backdrop for MEXC’s Visa crypto card, which combines stablecoin spending with cashback incentives and mobile payment functionality.

MEXC Visa crypto card sets high transaction limits

For users making larger payments, MEXC has established relatively high transaction limits for its Visa crypto card.

The maximum purchase amount is set at 80,000 USDT per transaction, while daily spending is capped at 1 million USDT.

Those limits are higher than the limits attached to MEXC’s separate APAC card. The exchange has said the Global Card and APAC product are distinct offerings with different transaction limits and fee structures.

Applicants must complete MEXC’s advanced identity verification process before applying for the Visa crypto card. According to the exchange, the application process takes approximately one to two minutes, after which approved customers receive a virtual card without waiting for physical delivery.

The card is funded using USDT held on the MEXC exchange.

Earlier in August, MEXC also expanded its RealStocks product with recurring investment features, portfolio tracking and additional tools linked to tokenized U.S. equities. The service provides eligible users exposure to tokenized assets connected to U.S.-listed companies, including Nvidia and Tesla.

U.S. residents remain excluded

Despite the growing popularity of crypto-linked payment products in the United States, MEXC’s Visa crypto card is not available to U.S. residents.

MEXC’s current eligibility documentation lists the United States among jurisdictions restricted from applying for the card. Other countries on the exchange’s restricted list include China, India, Indonesia, Turkey and Russia.

Eligibility is determined using proof of address, and MEXC advises prospective applicants to review its current restricted-country list before applying.

The restriction distinguishes MEXC’s product from other crypto-linked cards available in the U.S. market. MetaMask, for example, expanded its Mastercard-linked debit card across 49 U.S. states in February, allowing eligible customers to spend assets held in self-custodial wallets through Apple Pay and Google Pay.

MEXC also maintains geographic restrictions for its broader exchange services and may revise its restricted-jurisdiction list in response to legal and compliance requirements.

For eligible applicants, the Visa crypto card can be activated immediately after approval, according to MEXC. However, availability ultimately depends on a user’s jurisdiction and compliance with the exchange’s eligibility requirements.

As stablecoins increasingly move from trading platforms into payment networks, MEXC’s latest product reflects the broader push to make digital assets usable for everyday transactions while retaining the benefits associated with blockchain-based financial services.
