Federal prosecutors have indicted Kishu Inu founder Alexander Sisemore, accusing him of secretly taking about 6% of the meme coin’s supply while telling investors the project had no team tokens.

The Justice Department says the 28-year-old Arkansas resident, known online as “Kishu Man,” made about $9 million from token sales. Sisemore’s lawyer says prosecutors will not be able to prove the case.

Kishu Inu’s fair-launch claims face federal scrutiny

The crypto fraud case centers on what prosecutors say was a contradiction between Kishu Inu’s public messaging and the token distribution allegedly controlled by its founders.

Kishu Inu launched on Ethereum in April 2021 and rapidly built a large following. According to the indictment, the project eventually attracted approximately 283,000 holders and was promoted through its website, social media platforms, Telegram, Reddit and advertising campaigns, including billboards.

At the heart of the allegations is the project’s description of itself as a fair launch. A Kishu Inu white paper reportedly told prospective investors that the project had been launched without team tokens and that its creators had purchased their holdings on the open market.

Prosecutors say roughly 6% of the total token supply was transferred to wallets controlled by Sisemore before tokens were offered to the public. Another approximately 6% was allegedly transferred to wallets controlled by an associate identified as Individual A.

The case therefore raises a familiar concern for cryptocurrency investors: whether public tokenomics accurately reflect the actual distribution of assets among founders, developers and other insiders.

Prosecutors allege nearly $10 million in profits

According to the crypto fraud case indictment, Sisemore and his associates allegedly sold portions of the tokens they had secretly received while making statements intended to support Kishu Inu’s liquidity and market price.

Federal prosecutors estimate that Sisemore personally generated approximately $9 million from the alleged transactions. The indictment says Individual A also generated roughly $800,000.

Some transactions allegedly moved through multiple wallets and cryptocurrency mixers, while court records cited a transaction involving about 4.74 trillion Kishu Inu tokens exchanged for 39,308 USDT in October 2021.

The Justice Department said the alleged conduct involved statements made through online channels, including Telegram, Twitter, Facebook and Reddit. The department described the alleged scheme as a “rug pull,” in which insiders are accused of benefiting from token sales while investors are left exposed to losses.

The federal indictment charges Sisemore with three counts of wire fraud. Each count carries a statutory maximum of 20 years in prison, although any eventual sentence would depend on federal sentencing rules, the circumstances of the case and the outcome of the proceedings.

The crypto fraud case remains an allegation at this stage. The Justice Department expressly noted that an indictment is not evidence of guilt and that Sisemore is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.

FBI seeks potential Kishu Inu victims

The crypto fraud case had already attracted federal attention before the indictment became public.

In April 2026, the FBI’s Chicago Division appealed to Kishu Inu investors who believed they may have been affected by the alleged scheme.

The bureau said investors’ assets may have been stolen and also raised concerns about a potential mechanism that could have enabled the creation of additional Kishu Inu tokens.

The agency is seeking information from people who invested in Kishu Inu or may have relevant information about the project. Investors can submit information through the FBI’s official victim-information form.

The FBI’s investigation also demonstrates that authorities can continue examining older cryptocurrency transactions long after a token’s initial market boom has ended.

Defense rejects allegations as case moves forward

The crypto fraud case is now expected to proceed through the federal court system, with Sisemore facing the allegations alongside questions about whether additional individuals connected to Kishu Inu could eventually become subjects of enforcement action.

Sisemore’s attorney, Nishay Sanan, has rejected the government’s position. His lawyer said he did not believe prosecutors would be able to prove the allegations and that Sisemore looked forward to fighting the case in court, says Nishay Sanan, attorney for Alexander Sisemore.

Federal prosecutors are also seeking forfeiture of proceeds allegedly connected to the token sales, including cryptocurrency wallets linked to Sisemore.

The case is being handled by the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Illinois, with the FBI’s Chicago Field Office involved in the investigation.

In Kishu Inu’s case, prosecutors allege that the difference between public representations and actual token allocations forms a central part of the government’s allegations.

The crypto fraud case will ultimately depend on evidence presented in federal court, rather than the allegations contained in the indictment alone. Until the proceedings are resolved, Sisemore remains legally presumed innocent.
