BingX has won a MiCA license in Austria, giving the exchange a regulated base to expand across Europe. Austria’s Financial Market Authority approved BingX’s European subsidiary, MEGE zweite GmbH, on October 13 to offer custody, crypto-fiat and crypto-crypto exchange, and transfer services.

The company says it plans to serve customers in 29 EEA countries but has not given a launch date.

MiCA license grants BingX approval for four crypto services

The Austrian regulator approved MEGE zweite GmbH to provide four categories of cryptocurrency services under the European Union’s Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation (MiCA).

These include the custody and administration of digital assets for customers, exchanges between cryptocurrencies and traditional currencies, crypto-to-crypto exchanges, and transfers of digital assets on behalf of clients.

The decision was issued under Article 63 of MiCA, which establishes the authorization process for crypto-asset service providers. Investors can consult the European Securities and Markets Authority’s MiCA regulatory framework.

The MiCA license is specific to the activities listed in the Austrian regulator’s approval. It should not be interpreted as permission to provide every type of cryptocurrency trading or investment service.

BingX EU announced the development on October 14, describing the authorization as part of its efforts to build a regulated presence in Europe.

MiCA license opens a pathway to 29 European markets

One of the most important implications of the MiCA license is the possibility of expanding beyond Austria through a mechanism known as passporting.

Under the EU framework, an appropriately authorized crypto-asset service provider can offer its approved services in other participating jurisdictions after satisfying the applicable notification requirements.

This arrangement is designed to establish a more consistent regulatory environment for cryptocurrency businesses operating across national borders.

BingX EU intends to use its Austrian authorization to serve customers across 29 EEA countries. However, the company must complete the necessary cross-border formalities before offering the relevant services in each intended market.

The European Securities and Markets Authority explains the broader authorization framework and the obligations facing crypto service providers in its official MiCA rulebook.

The company has not confirmed when the regulated services will become available across all 29 markets. It has also not announced a detailed country-by-country rollout schedule.

MiCA license follows months of regulatory scrutiny

The approval follows an application process that BingX publicly discussed earlier in 2026. In an update published on June 16, the exchange confirmed that its European subsidiary had applied to Austria’s FMA for authorization under MiCA.

At that time, the company said the application remained under regulatory review and that approval had not yet been granted. The October decision represents the subsequent completion of that authorization process.

The MiCA license also comes amid a broader transition in Europe’s approach to cryptocurrency regulation. The EU framework establishes common requirements for eligible crypto service providers, including authorization, governance, customer protection and operational standards.

These rules are relevant because regulatory approval provides a clearer basis for assessing which legal entity is responsible for particular services and which activities it is permitted to conduct.

However, a MiCA license should not be confused with a guarantee against losses, cyberattacks or business failures. Cryptocurrency investments remain exposed to market volatility, liquidity constraints, operational risks and other uncertainties.

BingX EU’s approval applies to the authorized Austrian entity and the services specified in its regulatory decision. Investors should therefore avoid assuming that the authorization automatically covers other companies within the BingX group or every service available through the wider platform.

The company’s chief executive, Daniel Lai, highlighted the importance of its European strategy, stating: “Our priority is to provide European users with trusted and locally regulated trading experience,” — Daniel Lai, CEO of BingX, as quoted in the company announcement.

His statement reflects the exchange’s stated objective of building a regulated service offering for European customers. The effectiveness of that strategy will ultimately depend on implementation, compliance and the experience customers receive after the services launch.

What BingX’s MiCA license means for crypto investors

The MiCA license strengthens BingX EU’s regulatory standing in Austria and establishes a potential route into additional European markets.

The commercial significance of the approval will depend on the company’s ability to complete passporting procedures and make its regulated services available to customers.

Overall, BingX’s Austrian approval represents a meaningful step in its European growth plans. The MiCA license gives the exchange a regulated foundation for four specified services and a potential route to a wider customer base.

The next milestone will be completing the required cross-border procedures and confirming when the authorized services will become available throughout the targeted markets.
