Editorial Policy & Corrections

Effective 28 October 2026

This policy sets out the standards expected of reporting published by The Bit Gazette and how readers can raise concerns. It applies to our coverage of cryptocurrency, blockchain, Web3, finance and technology.

Accuracy and sourcing

Reporting should be supported by identifiable evidence. Writers should seek original documents, official statements, court filings, regulatory notices, research, on-chain records and direct interviews where appropriate. Secondary reporting should be attributed, with links that allow readers to examine the evidence.

A company’s announcement is a claim from that company, not independent proof. Allegations, estimates, forecasts and disputed figures must be described as such. Headlines should accurately reflect the article, and quotations must preserve the source’s meaning. We should not invent sources, quotes, events or supporting evidence.

Breaking stories may develop after publication. Where important information remains unconfirmed, the article should make that uncertainty clear. Substantial allegations should be checked carefully, and the subject should be given a reasonable opportunity to respond where practicable.

News, analysis and opinion

News reports should distinguish established facts from interpretation. Analysis explains evidence and its possible implications; opinion expresses a viewpoint. Neither analysis nor opinion removes the obligation to represent facts accurately. Market prices and figures should have a source and relevant time context.

Independence and conflicts of interest

Editorial decisions should be based on public interest, relevance and evidence. Advertisers and commercial partners must not buy favourable news coverage or veto accurate reporting. Contributors should disclose relevant financial interests, paid relationships and other material conflicts to the editor, with reader-facing disclosures where those interests could affect the coverage.

Sponsored content and press releases

Paid material must be clearly labelled. Press releases should be identified as supplied announcements and should not be presented as independently verified reporting. Publication does not constitute endorsement of a business, token, service or investment. Commercial enquiries belong through our advertising contact.

Use of AI and other tools

Any use of AI or automation must remain subject to human editorial responsibility. Contributors must verify factual claims, quotations, links and calculations against reliable sources. AI output is not a source of evidence, and fabricated reporting or misleading synthetic images are unacceptable. Material synthetic or illustrative imagery should be clearly identified where readers might otherwise mistake it for documentary evidence.

Corrections and updates

Readers can request a correction by emailing info@thebitgazette.com with the subject Correction request. Include the article URL, the passage or claim at issue, an explanation and supporting evidence.

Substantiated factual errors should be corrected promptly. A correction that materially changes a story’s meaning should carry a dated note explaining what changed. New developments may be added as updates. Minor spelling, punctuation or formatting fixes may be made without a separate correction note.

Where a story is fundamentally unreliable, the editor should consider a retraction or an explanatory notice. Requests to remove material are assessed on their merits; disagreement or commercial pressure alone is not a reason to remove accurate reporting.

Complaints and right of reply
