Trump Media drops native prediction market plan, will promote Crypto.com’s OG.com instead

Trump Media has abandoned plans to launch a fully integrated Trump Prediction Market product on Truth Social, instead directing users to Crypto.com’s existing event-contract platform.

Trump Media is abandoning its plan to build a native Truth Predict prediction-market platform on Truth Social, opting instead to promote Crypto.com’s existing OG.com app, a scaled-back approach that comes as the two companies also mutually terminated a separate plan to launch a publicly traded CRO treasury vehicle with Yorkville Acquisition Corp.

The proposed Trump Prediction Market would have offered contracts covering elections, interest and inflation rates, commodity prices and major sports leagues. The plan also envisioned real-time pricing and a mechanism through which users could convert Truth Social’s “Truth gems” into CRO to fund trades.

The announcement, made on October 28, 2025, positioned Truth Predict as a major expansion of Truth Social’s financial and digital-asset ambitions. At the time, then-Trump Media CEO Devin Nunes presented the concept as a way to open markets that had traditionally been dominated by financial institutions and other elites.

Crypto.com co-founder Kris Marszalek similarly described prediction markets as a potentially massive opportunity for both companies.

Neither vision has materialized in its original form.

Trump Media’s latest public filing now describes Truth Predict as still “in development.” Rather than immediately operating its own prediction-market infrastructure, the company’s initial rollout is being framed around marketing and promotional activities directing users toward OG.com, Crypto.com’s prediction-markets application, which launched in February 2026.

Trump Prediction Market retreat follows CRO treasury cancellation

The change in strategy comes alongside the collapse of another major agreement involving Trump Media and Crypto.com.

Trump Media, Crypto.com and Yorkville Acquisition Corp mutually terminated plans for Trump Media Group CRO Strategy, a proposed digital-asset treasury vehicle that was expected to become the first and largest publicly traded holder of Crypto.com’s CRO token.

The companies cited changing market conditions and stakeholder priorities for the termination.

Interim Trump Media CEO Kevin McGurn indicated that the company is narrowing its priorities rather than pursuing every opportunity connected to cryptocurrency. That approach also appears to have influenced the company’s thinking around the Trump Prediction Market initiative.

The broader cryptocurrency market has also become less favorable to corporate treasury strategies centered on accumulating digital assets. Bitcoin has declined substantially from its 2025 peak, while investor enthusiasm for publicly traded companies holding large cryptocurrency reserves has weakened.

Against that backdrop, building and operating prediction-market infrastructure could carry significant costs and regulatory exposure.

McGurn also pointed to the increasingly competitive prediction-market sector. With established platforms already attracting users and liquidity, Trump Media appears to see greater value in directing its audience toward an existing operator than developing an entirely new backend.

That distinction changes the company’s role considerably. Instead of becoming a direct operator of a Trump Prediction Market, Trump Media can potentially benefit from the sector through audience distribution and promotion while leaving much of the market infrastructure to Crypto.com.

Regulation complicates the Trump Prediction Market strategy

Regulatory uncertainty provides another important backdrop to the shift.

Prediction markets have become the subject of an increasingly complicated jurisdictional dispute in the United States, particularly over whether event contracts involving sports and other outcomes should be treated primarily as financial products or as gambling.

In April 2026, the Commodity Futures Trading Commission sued Arizona, Connecticut and Illinois in an effort to reaffirm what Chairman Michael Selig has described as the agency’s exclusive jurisdiction over event contracts. The federal regulator has argued for a national framework rather than a fragmented system in which individual states establish separate rules.

Several states, however, have challenged prediction-market operators through litigation or enforcement actions. Nevada, Wisconsin and Massachusetts have been among those pursuing questions around event contracts, particularly contracts connected to sports.

The dispute creates an additional layer of risk for companies seeking to operate their own prediction-market infrastructure.

For Trump Media, limiting its operational exposure could therefore provide a strategic advantage. A company promoting an existing platform faces a different set of responsibilities from one directly operating an exchange, managing contracts and handling the regulatory obligations that accompany those activities.

That makes the revised Trump Prediction Market strategy less ambitious than the original proposal, but potentially less exposed to the unresolved regulatory fight.

Trump Prediction Market future remains uncertain

The retreat does not necessarily mean Trump Media has abandoned prediction markets altogether.

The company continues to describe Truth Predict as being “in development,” leaving open the possibility that a more integrated product could eventually emerge. For now, however, the immediate strategy appears to favor partnership and distribution rather than building a standalone prediction-market operation.

The decision also reflects a broader question facing companies entering crypto and prediction markets: whether the opportunity lies in owning the infrastructure or controlling access to an existing platform.

“What makes the prediction market space attractive is the opportunity to participate in a rapidly developing market,” is the premise underlying Trump Media’s original expansion strategy, but the company’s latest direction suggests that operating exposure may no longer be the immediate priority.

With regulatory battles continuing between federal agencies and state authorities, and established prediction-market platforms competing for users, Trump Media’s revised approach could allow it to remain involved without assuming the same level of operational risk.

For now, the Trump Prediction Market promised through Truth Predict appears to have shifted from a planned native feature into a more limited promotional relationship with Crypto.com’s OG.com platform.

The change marks a notable retreat from the original October 2025 vision, when Trump Media presented Truth Predict as a category-defining addition to Truth Social. Whether the company eventually returns to that ambition will likely depend on market conditions, regulatory clarity and the competitive landscape for event contracts.
