MEXC to shut down French accounts in four batches, with withdrawals ending March 5, 2027

French customers face phased trading restrictions and a March 2027 withdrawal cutoff, while Brazil’s approaching deadline concerns applications rather than completed licenses.

MEXC is shutting down services for French customers, with the first restrictions starting November 17 and a final withdrawal cutoff on March 5, 2027.

The exchange announced the exit on October 28, citing regulatory compliance. New registrations have already stopped.

MEXC France exit divides customers into four batches

Affected French accounts have been assigned four action deadlines: November 17, December 9 and December 30, 2026, and January 21, 2027. Each deadline falls at 23:59 in UTC+1, with restrictions beginning one minute later.

Under the MEXC France exit schedule, customers entering the restricted stage will lose the ability to make new deposits or increase their trading exposure. They will still be able to adjust margin, reduce or close positions, repay loans and withdraw assets.

The distinction matters for customers holding open trades. Restricted accounts will retain tools to unwind existing exposure, but users will no longer be able to continue trading as before.

Batch assignments determine when those limitations begin. Customers therefore need to follow the dates in their individual notices rather than assume that the final January deadline applies to every account.

Automatic closures precede March withdrawal cutoff

The MEXC France exit includes a common deadline for remaining open positions: midnight on January 22, 2027, UTC+1. Positions still open at that point will be closed automatically.

MEXC’s accompanying FAQ warns that automatic closures and settlement may generate losses or fees. Customers who want to manage the timing of their own exits must therefore act before that process begins.

All affected accounts will move into withdrawal-only mode at midnight on January 25. Withdrawals will then close at midnight on March 5, with both deadlines also stated in UTC+1.

For customers navigating the MEXC France exit, the March cutoff marks the end of direct withdrawals through the exchange. MEXC says remaining assets will be transferred to a regulated custodian, whose identity and claim arrangements will be announced separately.

The exchange has also arranged optional referrals to EU-regulated trading platforms. However, those referrals do not include automatic account or asset migration. Customers choosing another provider must complete its onboarding requirements and transfer their holdings themselves.

European withdrawal follows other market departures

The MEXC France exit extends a series of announced market withdrawals. Its Dutch wind-down similarly divided affected customers into four account groups, while the exchange announced departures affecting users in Russia and Belarus on October 20.

For French customers, the immediate consequence is a staged reduction in account access, followed by automatic closures and a final withdrawal deadline.

The MEXC France exit also leaves an unresolved question for customers who retain assets beyond March 5: how the custody and claims process will work. Until the promised announcement identifies the custodian and explains recovery arrangements, those details remain unavailable.

The referral option provides a possible route to another platform, but responsibility for opening an account and moving funds remains with each customer.

Brazil deadline concerns applications, with banking restrictions to follow

Alongside the MEXC France exit, attention is turning to Brazil’s October 30 deadline for existing cryptocurrency providers to apply for authorization.

That date is a filing cutoff, rather than a requirement for every existing provider to have already secured a completed license.

Under Article 88 of the Brazilian central bank’s Resolution 520, providers submitting timely applications may continue their existing services until the authorization process concludes. Providers that miss the filing deadline must cease cryptocurrency services within 30 days afterward.

A separate restriction takes effect on November 6. Resolution 520, as amended by Resolution 589, bars central-bank-regulated institutions from conducting or facilitating cryptocurrency-market operations with unauthorized providers, except through arrangements expressly permitted by the rules. The provision also covers payment accounts and transactions used to facilitate those operations.

For Brazilian customers, the key unresolved issue is whether MEXC has filed an application. The MEXC France exit provides confirmed account deadlines for French users, but it does not establish that Brazilian customers face the same timetable or withdrawal requirements.
