Porsche is shutting down its Web3 project and PIONEERS CIRCLE community, but owners will keep their 911 NFTs. The carmaker said on X on Oct. 1 that its Discord will go read-only and its @eth_porsche account will stop posting, closing a project that launched in January 2023 at 0.911 ETH per token.
For holders, the most significant distinction is that Porsche is ending the surrounding Web3 experience rather than withdrawing the NFTs themselves. The tokens will not be burned or revoked, and ownership will remain unchanged.
Porsche 911 NFTs remain on-chain after Web3 shutdown
Porsche said the conclusion of the project does not affect ownership of the Porsche 911 NFTs already held by collectors.
The tokens will continue to exist on the blockchain, meaning holders retain their NFTs after Porsche ends its official Web3 activities. The company did not announce any requirement for holders to transfer, migrate or otherwise alter their assets.
The announcement instead focuses on winding down the infrastructure surrounding the collection.
The PIONEERS CIRCLE Discord server will become a read-only archive. Existing content and the history of the community will remain accessible, but members will no longer be able to use the server for active discussion. Porsche’s @eth_porsche account on X will also stop being actively updated.
Porsche described the project’s conclusion as the end of an exploration that had evolved into a global community.
“What began as an exploration of new ways to connect the Porsche spirit with the digital world,” the company said, developed into a community “united by curiosity, creativity and a passion for exploring new possibilities at the intersection of innovation, culture and the Porsche brand.”
Porsche also thanked participants who contributed ideas, created with the project or followed its development.
The company said it “continues to evolve, adapting to new opportunities and shaping the future in its own way.”
For Porsche 911 NFTs holders, however, the immediate change is not ownership of the digital assets but the disappearance of the official community and programming that surrounded them.
Porsche 911 NFTs faced a difficult launch in 2023
Porsche’s Web3 experiment began with the launch of its 911 NFT collection in January 2023. Each NFT was initially offered for 0.911 ETH, while the project was designed to allow holders to customize a virtual version of the 911.
The launch struggled to gain momentum.
The collection minted significantly fewer tokens than Porsche had initially planned, while the secondary-market floor price fell below the original 0.911 ETH mint price. The performance drew criticism from parts of the crypto community and quickly turned the launch into a difficult moment for the automaker’s Web3 strategy.
Porsche subsequently reduced the collection’s supply and halted minting. The floor price recovered following the supply reduction, according to the supplied report, while the project shifted greater attention toward the PIONEERS CIRCLE community.
That community is now being retired alongside the wider Web3 initiative.
The trajectory of the Porsche 911 NFTs therefore differs from a conventional product discontinuation. Porsche is ending its active involvement without eliminating the digital assets themselves. Holders retain the tokens, but the official ecosystem built around them is being wound down.
Porsche 911 NFTs follow wider brand retreat from Web3
Porsche’s decision comes after a period in which several major consumer brands scaled back NFT and digital-collectibles initiatives launched during the 2021–22 market boom.
Nike, for example, announced in December 2024 that it would wind down RTFKT, its digital-collectibles business. Buyers subsequently filed a proposed class-action lawsuit alleging that the shutdown damaged the value of their assets.
The case later moved toward arbitration. In January 2026, a federal court granted Nike’s motion to compel arbitration and stayed the case.
The developments illustrate a recurring issue for brand-backed NFTs: the underlying token can remain on a blockchain even after the company ends the programs, communities or services associated with it.
That distinction is particularly relevant to Porsche 911 NFTs. The NFTs themselves remain in holders’ wallets, while the brand-operated experience around them is disappearing.
The end of Porsche’s Web3 project does not, based on the announcement supplied, constitute a cancellation of the NFTs. Instead, it separates the continued existence of the digital assets from the company’s ongoing participation in the community surrounding them.
Porsche 911 NFTs holders warned about phishing risks
The closure of official communication channels also creates an environment in which holders may need to be particularly careful about fraudulent messages.
With the Porsche X account no longer being actively updated and the PIONEERS CIRCLE Discord becoming read-only, fewer official channels will be available for users to verify claims about the collection.
The original Porsche NFT launch had already been accompanied by phishing sites, according to the supplied report. Similar impersonation attempts could seek to exploit the project’s shutdown by presenting fake migration, compensation or reward programs.
Porsche 911 NFTs holders should therefore be cautious about unsolicited requests to connect wallets, transfer tokens, claim rewards or migrate assets. Nothing in the company’s announcement instructs holders to perform an on-chain action.
