Binance denies dropping Singapore suit tied to $472.8 million RedotPay case

The Binance RedotPay lawsuit has taken a new turn after the companies offered conflicting accounts of whether related proceedings in Singapore will be discontinued.

The Binance RedotPay lawsuit intensified on Aug. 12, 2026, as Binance and stablecoin payments-card issuer RedotPay disputed the status of a Singapore legal proceeding connected to a separate dispute in Hong Kong seeking nearly $473 million in damages.

RedotPay said it expected Binance-linked proceedings in Singapore to be discontinued after an Aug. 7 hearing, while Binance rejected that interpretation and said its claims remained active.

Binance RedotPay lawsuit enters a new phase

The disagreement adds another layer to a legal conflict that has emerged between Binance-affiliated entities and RedotPay over the use of Binance Pay funds and access to Binance customers.

For crypto investors, the dispute is significant because it concerns the commercial relationship between a major cryptocurrency exchange and a payments company operating in the growing stablecoin-card sector.

According RedotPay  spokesperson, it expected the Singapore matter to end following the hearing.  Binance, however, disputed RedotPay’s characterization of the proceedings.

Reports that Binance will be withdrawing its Singapore claims are false, a Binance spokesperson told Cointelegraph, adding that the exchange is not abandoning its claims and has informed both the court and RedotPay accordingly.

The conflicting statements mean the precise status of the Singapore proceedings remains central to the Binance RedotPay lawsuit, even as the broader dispute continues across jurisdictions.

Binance RedotPay lawsuit tied to $472.8 million Hong Kong claim

The Binance RedotPay lawsuit became public more broadly on Aug. 5, after reports emerged that Binance-linked companies Nest Trading, DistributedTechnologies and Chaintecs Consulting Singapore had filed proceedings in Hong Kong involving RedotPay’s co-founders.

The plaintiffs allege that RedotPay diverted more than 470,000 Binance Card users by permitting Binance Pay funds to be used for stablecoin card top-ups in ways they contend fell outside the terms of a commercial agreement.

The plaintiffs estimated damages at approximately $472.8 million, using a claimed lifetime customer value of $925 per affected user.

Those allegations have not been established as fact in court, and RedotPay has rejected them. The company previously described the claims as “unfounded allegations” and said it would defend itself through the legal process.

The Binance RedotPay lawsuit therefore involves competing interpretations of contractual obligations and customer activity rather than a finding of wrongdoing against either side.

Related proceedings were also brought in Singapore by Chaintecs Consulting Singapore against RedotPay affiliates. A hearing was scheduled for Aug. 7 through Singapore’s courts.

Binance RedotPay lawsuit follows the end of a payment integration

The Binance RedotPay lawsuit also follows the breakdown of a commercial integration between the two companies.

RedotPay announced its Binance Pay partnership in December 2023. The arrangement enabled Binance Pay users to make direct deposits to RedotPay cards, connecting Binance’s payment ecosystem with RedotPay’s stablecoin-focused card services.

Binance ended support for that integration on April 3, 2026, citing a review of its merchant partners. The termination occurred months before the legal dispute became public.

The commercial relationship was established well before the current litigation, while the termination of the integration preceded the public disclosure of the legal claims.

The dispute also highlights the challenges facing crypto businesses that combine exchange services, payment infrastructure and stablecoin-based spending products.

As these businesses expand, commercial agreements governing customer access, payment flows and product usage can become increasingly important to their operations and valuations.

Binance RedotPay lawsuit leaves investors watching next steps

The Binance RedotPay lawsuit now leaves investors with several unresolved questions, particularly concerning the future of the Singapore proceedings and the separate Hong Kong claim.

The most immediate issue is whether Binance-linked entities will continue pursuing their Singapore claims despite RedotPay’s expectation that the matter will be discontinued. Binance’s public statement indicates that it currently intends to maintain its position.

The Hong Kong proceedings present a separate and potentially larger legal challenge, with damages claimed at approximately $472.8 million.

The allegations center on whether Binance Pay funds were used for RedotPay card top-ups contrary to the commercial arrangement between the parties.

The Binance RedotPay lawsuit could therefore become relevant beyond the two companies themselves if the dispute affects partnerships, customer migration strategies or confidence in crypto payment platforms.

For crypto investors, the key distinction is between allegations and established findings. Neither the Hong Kong damages claim nor the disputed Singapore proceedings should be treated as evidence that either company has prevailed.

Until the courts clarify the procedural position and the underlying claims progress, the Binance RedotPay lawsuit remains an evolving legal dispute with implications for two prominent participants in crypto payments.
