GMX has opened its Dollar vault to seven crypto markets, letting users earn trading fees on a single USDG deposit without picking individual pools. The platform estimates a base yield of 7% to 12% APR, plus a promotional bonus of at least 8% through November 30, though neither figure is guaranteed.

How the Dollar vault generates returns for investors

The Dollar vault operates through GMX’s liquidity provision system, which supplies capital to support trading activities on the platform.

When users deposit USDG, their funds enter an automated liquidity structure identified as GLV \(USDG-USDG\). The vault distributes liquidity across its supported markets and can adjust allocations according to market utilisation and other liquidity requirements.

This arrangement allows investors to participate in several markets through a single deposit instead of managing separate liquidity positions.

GMX’s October launch announcement explained that liquidity providers earn a share of the fees generated through trading, liquidations and borrowing activities. The protocol stated that liquidity providers receive 63% of applicable fees on Arbitrum and Avalanche.

At launch, GMX estimated that the product could generate a base annual percentage rate (APR) of between 7% and 12%, depending on fee generation across the underlying markets.

The platform also introduced an additional launch incentive of at least 8% APR for the initial eight-week promotional period.

These figures represent estimates and promotional incentives rather than guaranteed investment returns. Actual earnings depend on trading activity, liquidity conditions and the performance of the underlying pools.

The Dollar vault therefore provides an alternative for investors seeking exposure to DeFi liquidity provision without directly holding the underlying cryptocurrencies as their deposited asset.

However, the dollar denomination should not be confused with a complete absence of investment risk. Liquidity providers remain exposed to the financial outcomes of traders using the markets supported by their deposits.

Bitcoin, Ethereum and five other assets gain liquidity support

The expansion to seven markets is particularly significant because it broadens the range of trading activities contributing to the vault’s potential fee generation.

Bitcoin and Ethereum remain two of the most established cryptocurrency markets, while Solana, XRP, NEAR, Zcash and HYPE provide additional exposure to different segments of the digital asset industry.

For GMX, supporting these markets through one liquidity product could help attract investors who prefer diversified liquidity provision over committing funds to individual cryptocurrency pools.

The arrangement also creates a connection between trading activity and liquidity providers. As traders execute transactions, open positions and pay applicable fees, the underlying pools can generate revenue for participating liquidity providers.

GMX’s documentation explains that its automated GLV pools can shift liquidity between supported markets depending on utilisation and market capacity. This mechanism is intended to direct capital towards markets requiring additional liquidity.

The expansion does not mean that investors receive identical returns from all seven assets. Each market has different trading volumes, borrowing conditions, liquidity requirements and risk characteristics.

Dollar vault launch incentive runs until November 30

GMX has indicated that the full launch incentive will continue until November 30, 2026. The promotion is intended to encourage participation and increase liquidity available across the supported markets.

The campaign adds another attraction for investors considering the Dollar vault, particularly those interested in earning returns from decentralised trading infrastructure rather than relying exclusively on cryptocurrency price appreciation.

However, investors should pay attention to what happens after the promotional period ends. The additional incentive is not a permanent component of the product, and future reward rates may differ from the initial offering.

There are also risks associated with smart contracts, stablecoin depegging, liquidity availability and changes in market conditions. GMX’s own documentation acknowledges that liquidity providers can experience losses when traders’ profits affect the value of underlying pools.

Although the platform describes the product as withdrawable without a fixed lock-up, its documentation also explains that available liquidity and market conditions can sometimes restrict immediate withdrawals.

Overall, the expansion strengthens GMX’s liquidity offering by bringing seven cryptocurrency markets under one dollar-denominated product.

Whether it attracts sustained investor participation will depend on trading activity, actual fee generation and the competitiveness of its returns after the launch incentives expire.
